Attention Parents!!!

As you may know, we are very much in need of new parent volunteers for our home and school and playground committee. We currently have a handful of parents throughout our consolidated school that come together to plan events and fundraising ideas to make our children's school year the best one possible!

We have been working very hard over the last couple of years to raise funds so that we can install a brand new inclusive playground that our children very much deserve!! We have numerous children in wheelchairs and with other health issues throughout our school and they deserve to have time on a playground with their peers just as much as all the other children within our school with no disability. Without your help this will not be possible. The children were asking at the end of last year why the playground was not being installed and the only answer we can come up with is because there is not enough support from parent volunteers! The awesome news is that we can change that this year!! Why not sign up? The commitment is very low yet so rewarding!!! The children of Athena will thank you the day we can install that beautiful playground!!!

So we are asking you to please consider giving up 1 hour of your time minimum each month to make this the most successful school year yet!! Maybe you know somebody that owns a business that would be willing to make a donation, maybe you own a business and are willing to donate, maybe you know of a particular grant that we would be entitled to and should apply for... It is this kind of support that we are very much in need of!!!

We currently have just a little over $20,000 and have a long way to go!! Let's make the 2016-2017 school year one to remember! Many hands make light work.

Thank you to all who came out to support the 2^nd Annual Athena Prize Bingo. With everything sold and another wonderful $500 gift from Kinsmen Summerside, $2172.00 was raised for the playground last night!

This number does not include some funds being matched by our volunteers from Scotiabank that will be announced at a later date.

Thank you to the many volunteers, staff, prize donors and bingo enthusiasts who supported this event. See you next year!

Bingo Tonight!

With the great success of our Bingo Night last year, we are planning one for this year!  Let’s make it even better.  The event will take place on Thursday, June 2nd.  This event will be a Prize Bingo Night.  Please let all your friends know!

In order to have a successful night, we are looking for any prize donations people are willing to offer.  Examples of prizes we are looking for are gift cards of any value, iPads/iPods, bikes, sports equipment, or even TV’s! You can donate as individual families or get together with your neighbours to donate a larger item!  Any prize donations dropped off at the school office before Wednesday, May 25th would be greatly appreciated!

So get your bingo dabbers ready, grab the grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbours and get ready to play some

B-I-N-G-O!

Staycation Raffle Results

The Athena Home and School Playground Committee is pleased to announce that the recent Staycation Raffle in support of the new playground was a great success, raising $4401.40 for new playground equipment for our kids!

The grand prize winner was Dylan Thompson

Students prizes were are also drawn and the winners received prizes from Summerside Bulk Barn, Indigo and A-1 Pizza in Summerside. We were also able to give 50 students A&W coupon booklets
